About Us

Our name Mocha Heights comes from the renowned port city of Al-Makha in Yemen. It was a major port in Yemen, and historically a hub for the international coffee trade. As coffees were named after the source of export, famous Yemeni beans from Haraz, Bani Matar, Alhaimah, etc became known globally as Mocha Coffee. 

Our goal at Mocha Heights is to bring you the best of coffee from around the world. Our expertise in coffee spans every step in the process from the coffee seed in the ground to the cup in your hand. 

As we embarked on this journey, it was important to highlight the roots and origins of coffee, and so “Mocha Heights” is our way of continuing the legacy of where it all started.  

Here at Mocha Heights we recognize that enjoying a superior cup of Coffee is more than just a beverage but an experience that preserves traditions and social connections. As we source our coffee beans we strive to ensure the highest standard every step of the way.  
Seed & Cherry The coffee bean is the seed from the Coffee plant and the source for coffee. The fruit is referred to as the coffee cherry.
Picking or Stripping Selective picking involves hand-picking only the ripe red cherries. Stripping removes all cherries, ripe or unripe. Specialty coffee ensures only ripe cherries are chosen, producing higher quality beans with sweeter, more complex flavor due to longer sugar development.
Method – Wet or Dry We work closely with farmers to understand their drying methods. Dry (natural) or wet (washed/honey) methods significantly influence the final flavor profile.
Direct Trade We establish relationships with farms and traders who work directly with farmers. These partnerships ensure ethical trading practices and supply consistency.
Roasting Our roasting process blends science and artistry. With carefully controlled temperature, time, and airflow, we highlight the unique characteristics of each bean, enhancing sweetness and complexity.
